The game of baseball is 90%mental and10% physical.
Mental preparation includes understanding everything a good ball player can learn about the team he is about to face. As the other team warms up, the smart ball player will notice:
-
Who has a strong arm
-
The right-handedness or left-handedness of the pitcher and/or infielders
-
What weaknesses or tendencies the pitcher has
-
The quickness of the defense
-
The communication between the pitcher and the catcher
-
The conditions on the field, including the backstop and how it will affect a ball that hits it
All these tendencies of the other team seem small when viewed individually, but together, they provide a valuable picture about the other team. By gathering all this information, good ball players can identify weaknesses of the other team and use them to his teams advantage.

The cutoff date for each age/grade will be September 1st.
For instance, a player playing in the 5th and 6th grade division cannot turn 12 before September 1st. If questioned the head coach will be held responsible for providing proof of age, (Birth Certificate).
All rules for the tourney will be those of the OHSAA with the following exceptions.
Having the proper grip is essential for maintaining a smooth, consistent swing. Hitters, line up your middle knuckles on the bat so that your hands are in the steadiest position possible. If your knuckles are not in this stabilizing position, your bat has a tendency to jump in your hands as you turn your wrists over to finish the swing.
A bat that is TOO HEAVY will slow down your swing and make it very difficult to maintain proper balance during your swing. Starting with improper balance only leads to improper form in swinging, which reduces the chances for a well-hit ball.
A bat that is TOO LIGHT will cause you to swing too fast, which also affects your rhythm and keeps you from driving the ball. A light bat also sometimes causes your shoulders to get ahead of your hips.
In an EFFECTIVE SWING, the hips should lead the rest of your body. Most of your power comes from the action of your hips!
