All teams will be guaranteed three games.

Highlights of the GriffinSports 2010 March Madness Basketball Tournament
Great Job to all of the teams, coaches, players and fans who made the second annual Griffin Sports March Madness Basketball Tournament a great and exciting tournament!
Thanks to the Trojans who played ten 7th graders and two 8th graders, but showed a competitive spirit and a never give up attitude that will eventually make them a better team “Down the Road”. Keep up the hard work. As the Legendary NC State Head Coach Jim Valvano once said, before he died of cancer, “Never give up, don’t ever give up”.
I also want to thank our two Charter Schools, Apex Academy and New Day Academy, who brought a great deal of excitement and competition to our tournament. I want to applaud both coaches for a job well done!
Great job to the Wrecking Crew who featured as talented an 8th grade team that there is in this area. The Wrecking Crew, who finished 3-1, featured 9 impact players who will certainly make a major impact on their future high school programs (Kenston, Chagrin Falls, and Orange) next year. I would not be surprised if a few of the boys are contributing varsity minutes as freshmen next year.
Lastly, I want to congratulate our tournament champions Team Bethany. Bethany who suffered a double digit loss to the Wrecking Crew earlier in the tournament, who were down by double digits in the second half in the championship game to the talented Wrecking Crew, used clutch three point shooting and tenacious defense down the stretch to force the game into overtime. Then in overtime Team Bethany, who finished runner-up in the Griffin Sports “March Madness” Tournament in 2009 were not to be denied their first Griffin Sports Championship and defeated the Wrecking Crew 48-46 in OT. Great Job!

On June 16-18 2011, GriffinSports competed in the State Tournament: Highlights for GriffinSports were:
- Ricky Downer, who had three hits, including a double, two stolen bases, and scored a run.
- Ardell Cloud, who had three hits, including two doubles, and an RBI.
- CJ Griffin, who had four hits, including a double, two walks, a stolen base, scored a run, and an RBI.
- Zach Peters, who had three hits, a walk, and a stolen base. Zach also pitched five innings with three strikeouts.
- Jonathan Griffn, who had two hits and two stolen bases.
- Jacob Cantrell, who had three hits, including a double, two walks, a stolen base, and scored a run. Jake also pitched two innings with one strikeout.
- Kevin Keane, who had two walks, two stolen bases, and scored a run.
- Alex Wojtala, who had a hit and two stolen bases. Alex also pitched five strong inning with three strikeouts, and only allowing two earned runs.
- Griffin Hornyak, who had a hit.
- Anthony Delgado, who had a walk. Anthony also pitched five strong innings against the #1 team in the state, with one strikeout.
- Tommy Foster, who pitched seven innings, with two strikeouts and only allowing two earned runs against the #5 team in the state.
In 2010 The GriffinSports 15U Baseball Team played in the 15u State Tournament. Highlights for GriffinSports were:
- Kevin Keane who hit .600 in the tournament (9-15) including two doubles, scored three runs, four walks, one RBI and one stolen base. Kevin is now second on the team in hitting (.378).Kevin also made a game saving play at second base when he started a doubleplay in the bottom of the seventh inning.
- Ardell Cloudwho leads the team in hitting (.442) and On-Base Percentage (.698)had four hits including a double, three RBIs, five walks including an intentional walk and scored a run. But most amazingly Ardell caught every inning of the entire tournament when he had to battle the 90+ degree temperatures for three days in a row.
- Jacob Cantrell who is second on the team with a (.526) On-base percentage, had four hits, scored two runs, four walks, one stolen base and an RBI.
- CJ Griffin who is third on the team with a (.512) On-Base percentage and second on the team in runs (8) had four hits, three walks, scored five runs, two RBIs and a stolen base. CJ was also the winning pitcher when with one out and the winning run on third base he pitched out of the jam forcing the game into extra innings.
- Zach Peters, who leads the team in ERA (3.50) took a perfect game into the fifth inning in game one, he also had three hits and four RBIs
- Alex Wojtala, who is second on the team in ERA (4.10) and leads the team in strikeouts (16) pitched 10 innings and had six strikeouts. He also had three hits, scored three runs, two walks and an RBI.
- Alejandro Gonzalez Jr. who leads the team in stolen bases (8), and runs scored (10), had two doubles, three stolen bases, scored two runs, two walks and two RBIs
On 10/3 GriffinSports lost to the Black Wolves 7-4 and defeated the Bulldogs 7-6. Highlights for GriffinSports were:
- Zach Peters, who had three hits, including a walk off game winning bases loaded double, and three RBI’s.
- Jacob Cantrell, who had four hits including a double, scored three runs, a walk and two RBI’s.
- Anthony Delgado, who had two hits, scored a run and an RBI. Anthony also pitched five innings giving up two earned runs, five hits and three strikeouts.
- Lenin Guerrero, who had a triple, scored two runs and an RBI.
- Alex Wojtala, who had two hits and scored a run. Alex also pitched three innings allowing one earned run.
- Joe Bates, who had a single, scored a run, three walks and an RBI.
- Xavier Rodriguez, who had five put-outs at first base.
- Kevin Keane, who had a hit, a walk and scored two runs.
- CJ Griffin, who had a double, scored two runs and had three walks. CJ was the winning pitcher in relief when he pitched a scoreless sixth inning.
- Joe Peters, who had an RBI. Joe also pitched two innings, giving up two earned runs and five strikeouts.
- Jonathan Griffin, who scored a run.
- John Uhl, who caught all six innings of the second game, had two hits and an RBI.
On 9/26 GriffinSports split a doubleheader with the Shaker Spartans, losing 4-3 and winning 7-2. Highlights for GriffinSports were:
- Jacob Cantrell, who had two hits, including a double, scored three runs, a walk and a sacrifice bunt.
- Zach Peters, who had a double, a walk and two RBI’s. Zach also pitched four innings allowing two earned runs and five strikeouts.
- CJ Griffin, who had two hits, scored two runs, a walk and an RBI.
- Anthony Delgado, who had two hits, scored a run, a walk and an RBI. Anthony also pitched four innings, allowing two earned runs and six strikeouts.
- Alex Wojtala, who had a hit, a walk and two RBI’s. Alex also pitched five innings allowing two earned runs and three strikeouts
- Joe Bates, who had a single, scored two runs and a walk.
- Xavier Rodriguez, who had a walk and an RBI.

On 9/19 GriffinSports split a doubleheader with the Lake Erie Raiders, losing 4-2 and winning 7-2. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

- CJ Griffin, who had three hits, scored a run and had two RBI’s
- Jacob Cantrell, who had two hits, and a walk. Jacob also pitched four innings with four strikeouts and only allowed one run.

- Alex Wojtala, who had two walks and scored two runs. Alex also pitched six innings, allowing three earned runs and two strikeouts.

On 9/12 GriffinSports defeated the Longhorns 11-1 and 10-6. Highlights for GriffinSports were:
- Alex Wojtala who had three hits, including a double, two runs scored and five RBI’s. Alex also pitched five innings without giving up an earned run.
- CJ Griffin who had two hits including a two run homerun, three walks, scored three runs and two RBI’s.
- Zach Peters who had a double, a walk and scored three runs. Zach also pitched four innings with eight strikeouts. At one point in the game Zach struck-out five Longhorn hitters in a row.
- Kevin Keane who had three hits, two walks and scored a run.
- Jacob Cantrell who had one hit, three walks and scored three runs. Jacob also threw out a runner at home who tried to tag up and score from third base on a fly-ball to center-field.
- Anthony Delgado who had a hit, a walk, scored a run and an RBI. Anthony also pitched two innings with four strikeouts.
- John Uhl who had two hits, a walk, scored a run and had an RBI.
- Joe Peters who had two hits and scored a run
- Lenin Guerrero who had four walks and scored two runs.
- Joe Bates who had two walks and scored two runs.
- Jonathan Griffin who had a hit, three walks and scored a run.

On 9/5 GriffinSports was defeated by the Black Wolves 12-3 and 5-1. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

- Carmello Delgado who had three hits and three RBI’s
- Jacob Cantrell who had two hits, a walk and scored a run. Jacob also pitched two innings without giving up a run, with two strikeouts.
- CJ Griffin who had two hits, including an RBI triple and a walk. CJ, his brother Jonathan Griffin and Carmello Delgado turned a nice 6-4-3 doubleplay.
- Zach Peters who pitched four innings, gave up two earned runs and had four strikeouts.

On 8/29 GriffinSports defeated the Cougars 6-3 and 11-4. Highlights for GriffinSports were:
- Joe Bates, who had four hits including a double, a run scored and six RBI’s
- CJ Griffin, who had three hits, scored two runs, a walk and had three RBI’s.
- Anthony Delgado, who had three hits and scored a run. Anthony also recorded a save when he struck-out the last two batters game one
- Joe Peters, who had three hits including a double, a walk, scored two runs and had an RBI. Joe also recorded a save when he struck-out the last two batters of game two.
- Zach Peters, who had a hit, a walk and scored two runs. Zach also got the win in game two when he pitched five 1/3 innings, with six strikeouts and allowing one earned run. His fall baseball team leading ERA is 1.39
- Kevin Keane, who had two hits including a double, a walk and scored two runs.
- Jake Cantrell, who had two hits and scored three runs.
- Alex Wojtala, who had a hit and scored a run. Alex also got the win when he pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three earned run and four strikeouts.
- John Uhl, who caught a portion of both games in the 90+ degree heat. had a walk
- Xavier Rodriguez, who had a “clutch” two out RBI single
- Lenin Guerrero, who had a triple and two RBI’s
- Jonathan Griffin who had a walk and scored two runs.

Ardell Cloud who ended the season leading the team in hitting (.422), RBI’s (19) and On Base Percentage (.641) had four hits, including a double, five RBI’s, two walks and scored a run.
Jacob Cantrell who ended the season second on the team with a (.576) On-Base percentage, had a single, a walk, a stolen base and scored a run. In one game Jacob also had six put-outs in center field, including a diving catch on a sinking line drive.
Kevin Keane who led the team in doubles (8), was third on the team with a (.550) On-Base percentage and ended the season hitting (.333) had three hits including two doubles, a run scored and two walks. Kevin also made a spectacular back-handed catch, one foot from the fence deep in foul territory in left field.
CJ Griffin who ended the season fourth on the team in On-Base Percentage (.481) had four hits, two stolen bases and scored a run. CJ also made a diving catch in the hole at shortstop.
Zach Peters who ended the season second on the team in doubles (6) had three hits including a double, a stolen base and two walks. Zach also had a nice play at third base when he made a bare-handed pick-up on a slow rolling ball down the third base line and threw out the batter at first base.
Alex Wojtala who had a hit and who lead the team in innings pitched (44), strikeouts (23) and ERA (3.34), pitched four innings with only one walk.
Joe Bates who had four hits including a double, four walks, scored a run, a stolen base and an RBI.
Wilzon Santos who ended the season second on the team in hitting (.346) had four hits, five stolen bases and two RBIs. Wilzon also threw out a runner at home who was trying to score on a single from second base.
Jonathan Griffin who hit a season high .308 had two hits and two walks.
Alejandro Gonzalez Jr who led the team in runs (18) had a double, scored three runs, (one when he tagged up and scored from third base on a pop-up to the first baseman in foul territory) and a walk.
Lucas Daugherty who had a single and an RBI and an unassisted double play at third base. It was the ninth GriffinSports double play of the season. Lucas also pitched six innings with five strikeouts and no walks.
David Pierce who pitched four innings and only allowed one run to the Fort Wayne (Ind.) Cubs.
Chris Grillo had two hits, a walk, scored two runs and had two RBIs
Brandon Evans had three walks and a stolen base.
Jonathan Giebel who was nursing a back injury, pitched two innings with one strikeout.
